Startup Weekend - stealth mode activated #asw2

This past weekend I attended Atlanta's second Startup Weekend.  Over 100 local entrepreneurs shared their ideas, mostly web-related, which were narrowed down to about 10.  Then each formed a group and started to work on making that idea a reality.  I think 7 made it out alive and you can see most of them on the startup weekend site.  twitpay, a service that lets you publicly send people money via Twitter, was the only one to come out ready to be used.  Nice and simple idea and implementation, perfect for a weekend.  None of the ideas were game-changers IMO, since most are slightly different takes on existing ideas.  Well, except for mine of course. ;)

My idea made it through to the finals and formed a great team that is really excited and committed to the project.  Due to various issues (not necessarily technical) it will be a week or so before our service can go live.  So we decided to go into "stealth mode" and not reveal any details publicly until we have everything worked out.  When ready, we hope to come out with a bang!

Very little compares to the excitement of seeing an idea actually come to life, instead of being stuck in your head or on napkin.  Startup Weekend provided the jumpstart, but it will take a lot of work for all these startups to keep things going.  This event proved that the Atlanta tech community is strong and motivated.  The raw material is there, so I hope we can continue to grow it into innovative and successful companies.
